How is the value of the DOW derived?

The Dow is a price-weighted index and value of the Dow Jones Industrial Average is calculated using the Dow Divisor, which changes periodically according to market trends including dividends and mergers.

The value of the Dow is obtained by adding up the price of all 30 component companies and dividing them by the Dow Divisor (currently 0.132129493).

The current value of the Dow Jones Industrial Average is 20,821.76, representing a +11.44 (0.05%) increase from the previous day.
